@mrmattimation No I haven't but now I understand what you mean. It's been built up too much and can't meet your expectations. I had the same with Pacific Rim, I think that movie is "eh" at best.

@scoot That's understandable. I'm kind of the inverse. I like Evangelion but do find it a tad overrated.

@northernnarwhal Probably is, but I watched it before I knew anything about anime so that didn't affect my personal viewing experience and I found it to be highly enjoyable.

@northernnarwhal You need to realise watching Evangelion is watching a real persons dissent into madness. Anno was getting steadily more depressed and crazy over time and you see it in Evangelion as it goes on. That's the most interesting thing about that show.

@scoot No no no, I understand the symbolism and critiques the series portrays and I understand its importance as a deconstruction of the mecha genre, but I'm saying despite that the series overall as a whole just didn't live up to the unanimous praise its received, whereas a series like Cowboy Bebop completely won me over even though I watched it with full knowledge of the praise its received.

@northernnarwhal Eva gets unreal praise, far more than bebop, I understand how it's impossible for it to live up to it's hype these days.
