  1. I'm gonna say it right now, if you are a Let's Player or a vlogger and you rely on YouTube to pay your bills, your life expectancy is significantly shortened.

    1. @zeldatra Because relying on that murdock should come with a lifetime zoloft subscription ?

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:27:29 UTC from web
      1. @critialcloudkicker What? No. Because everyone else can go get jobs elsewhere in their field, but there isn't a TV network or movie studio or theme park or design studio or graphics department or ANYTHING that will pay you to scream at Slender every day of the week.

        1. @zeldatra Reading youtube comments should come with free Zoloft though.

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:29:55 UTC from web
          1. @critialcloudkicker Most sane content creators don't look at their comments unless you get a kick out of them like I do.

            1. @zeldatra And then you come to RDN ranting about MLB2 ?

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:32:10 UTC from web
        2. @zeldatra Ah, hmm, yea, point taken. I can not see Richie from ReviewTechUSA actually work at a company nowadays ( and neither can he himself ) ... Ofcourse there are exceptions, TotalBiscuit for example could probably retire on the mass wealth and the Starcraft 2 thing by now. Ofcourse I have no secret ability to look inside someones wallet though. So I could be wrong

          1. @critialcloudkicker when you sign with Google AdSense, they have you sign a NDA making it breach of contract to tell people how much you make and that's why everyone only gives vague figures.

            1. @zeldatra So allow me to summarise, because you can't know howmuch a youtube partner makes a year, combined with the fact that the longer you stay a youtube partner and probably become less and less interesting for "real" jobs. Shortens your lifespan ?

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:37:51 UTC from web
              1. @critialcloudkicker No. Their lifespan is shortened because as soon as YouTube goes offline they're out of a job.

                1. @zeldatra pewdiepie makes seven mil a year, I think he will be fine

                  1. @rarity Estimated* Check those asterisks!

                2. @zeldatra I've been fired from "real" jobs in the past a few times. It is not lethal, trust me, I am still alive.

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:40:47 UTC from web
                  1. @critialcloudkicker Yes but Let's Players do not have applicable skills in the real world.

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:41:25 UTC from web
                    1. @zeldatra I am sure that most of them don't. But even if they had none at all, it can't be that hard to find either an education or job, right ?

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:44:08 UTC from web
                      1. @critialcloudkicker If PewDiePie walked into my store and asked for a job I would decline just on principle.

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:45:39 UTC from web
                        1. @zeldatra I did not know you owned a store. Also, I can not stand the way he acts on his youtube, but if I run a ICT installation company/store and he was able and willing, i'd at least give him a trial.

                          1. @critialcloudkicker What the... no, I don't own a store.

                      2. @critialcloudkicker He is an Engineer who graduated college. He would have a great time finding a job in engineering over in California.

                        1. @potatao I thought Totalbiscuit came from "De Montfort University" ... Not sure what he did there though

                          1. @critialcloudkicker You talking about the Pewdiepie right? Felix? But, that I didn't know. Deep respect for TotalBiscuit by the way.

                            1. @potatao Brah, I do not know anything more than just 2 things about Pewdiepie. 1 he alledgedly makes about a million per year. 2 I watched 3 minutes of his video and it gave me a headache, I do not like his way of video-ing

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:53:53 UTC from web
                              1. @critialcloudkicker Oh, I swear this conversation was about Pewds but, I guess I was wrong, sorry for butting inn.

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:54:46 UTC from web
                                1. @potatao It was actually about people who make video's for a living now, and who will probably die soon when it no longer is viable to get your income though making video's

                              2. @critialcloudkicker Oh, and I heard about the pewdiepie-factor as a turn of phraise when discussing the "expose versus commercials versus sales" when it comes to video games

Monday, 13-Oct-14 22:56:02 UTC from web
                        2. @potatao He is not a graduate. He dropped out to pursue his YouTube career.
