    Depression is rarely ever cured by the self with just determination and Will power... In fact, to call others who don't get over it that way "weak" is rude... as Depression is not a choice for many, it is a Subconcious Assault on the psyche. It is not always the individual who decides to hide away, sometimes their brains trick them, sometimes they literally can't be happy for they are not capable of producing Dopamine or other happy Neurotransmitters. (Anhedonia) But, the reasons and the tricks that are played on them are Specialized and varied, just as the individual is. It is a mental Illness... To think that the mind is Impregnable to fear is silly. And, that one can get over insurmountable Physiological Hurdles with just Believing is silly. And to blame those who have no control over thought is... It is insufferable to me. @rednorth

          @metaltao no ones mind is impregnable not even my own. depression is a constant among my family and friends. but stopping and letting it become an excuse for suicide,cutting or self abuse is self condemnation

            @rednorth No, that is the thing, Depression manipulates reality. You see it as a Necessary thing. It can become a... "Logical" step to recovery in the minds of the depressed, at least, that is what it tries to do. Not everyone who is depressed sees them as depressed, and, some do see, but even that is manipulated as to seem helpless. It is like giving two people their own windows, but you make one incorrectly so it obscures the outside. Ask them what is outside, and they will give you different answers, because their senses are not wrong, it is merely them not questioning their ability to sense or their... Everything really. As all of it was manipulated. They both see truth, but one is not fact.
