I hate this boss fight because it's supposed to be easy but I keep dying
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:22:09 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie which one?
-
@nightmarenarwhal I'm playing Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix so I dunno if you'd know
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:36:25 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie I might, was the boss in the original KH II?
-
@nightmarenarwhal It's Xemnas but they added data fights for challenge in Final Mix. So Data Xemnas. I won anyway.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:45:16 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie I remember Xemnas not being too tough but I've only fought him in the original KH II
-
@nightmarenarwhal He wasn't but all the Data fights give the Org.XIII members faster attacks, more damage, quicker counters, and massive health bars.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:49:49 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Ah, so basically they can totally kick your butt?
-
@nightmarenarwhal Yeah, plus I equipped the Zero Experience ability for the whole game so I'm still at level 1.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:53:43 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie There's a Zero Experience ability in Final Mix?
-
@nightmarenarwhal Yeah, they've started including it in most KH games now.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 17:56:51 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie didn't know they had one in 2.5, cool
-
@nightmarenarwhal You should get it and try it :^)
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:03:06 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Too many games to play, not enough time or money for all of them
-
@nightmarenarwhal KH2.5 is so cheap now, I think I saw it at Best Buy for $25
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:09:44 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie If I can find it I'll consider it
-
@nightmarenarwhal Maybe beat 1.5 first
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:10:27 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Yeah I have that but never actually played through it
-
@nightmarenarwhal I know, just saiyan
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:15:04 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie I just bought it because I wouldn't mind replaying through KH1 someday (since I don't actually personally own a copy of the original) and because the art book is really nice
-
@nightmarenarwhal I love the art book.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:16:49 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Does KH 2.5 have one?
-
@nightmarenarwhal Nah.
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:19:47 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Awwww :(
-
@nightmarenarwhal But it does have Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix which is way better than KH2
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:21:02 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie That sounds good then, KH2 is my probably my favourite in the series
-
@nightmarenarwhal Plus Birth by Sleep Final Mix is still the best side game
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:25:46 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie I haven't played BbS but my brother has it on his PSP so maybe I'll play it over the Christmas break when he's chillin back at home. My favourite side game out of the ones I've played is probably Days.
-
@nightmarenarwhal Definitely wait for the HD Final Mix, the game's controls are a lot better and runs a lot more smoothly
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:30:27 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Good plan

@yodeleerie I'll maybe still get it at some point but the art book was one of my favourite parts of 1.5
-
@nightmarenarwhal I'm just a big fan of the series despite the convoluted plot and crazy amount of games
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:23:48 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie I think the individual vignettes the games present are pretty good (Roxas' arc in particular is very sweet) though the series has kind of a poor grasp of long term plotting. Which is okay for me, though, because I don't mind spending time with the characters and the gameplay tends to be pretty engaging.
-
@nightmarenarwhal My thoughts really
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:29:56 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Yeah, I think KH could accomplish the same narrative feats with more direct writing but the larger overarching story of KH never really concerned me that much anyway, it's more of just a vehicle for the gameplay and characters
-
@nightmarenarwhal And a good one at that
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:32:34 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie Yup! For a series that was conceptualized as a Final Fantasy spinoff (even though by the first game it was entirely its own thing) it's been much more engaging than any recent Final Fantasy game
-
@nightmarenarwhal I've never really enjoyed Final Fantasy games tbh, the combat system was odd to me and the characters usually bored me but I never played more than part of VII and a little of XIII
Tuesday, 27-Oct-15 18:36:58 UTC from web-
@yodeleerie They're an acquired taste. You have to have a patience and appreciation for the classic JRPG model of gameplay to enjoy them, and since I grew up playing lots of JRPGs the formula feels very familiar and comfortable to me. It's really understandable how someone would be bored by a Final Fantasy game as they're not really action packed or engage with the player directly. I think FF VII is a great game but it's not my favourite in the series (it's not even my favourite PS1 Final Fantasy game, which is FF IX). I don't really care for FF XIII, that's one of the weakest in the whole series for me and I didn't enjoy it. My absolute favourite is FF VI on the SNES, which is actually a game I hold in very high regard for having a lot of depth in its admittedly simplistic turn based system but also for juggling an entire ensemble of dynamic character arcs incredibly well and featuring one of gaming's most charismatic and effective villains.
-
@nightmarenarwhal Also FFVI's soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, a lot of its major scenes are heightened immensely through some great compositions and sound design
