It occurred to me... if every instance had it so that images from other instances are linked instead of like normal... wouldn't that help people when it comes to #nsfw content? You would have to click whatever it is at your own peril then. I don't know that it is even saved on your own server since it links to the original instead. You don't automatically see it, then you just need to worry about your own server.-

Yeah... although I don't have an issue with it here. Just means extra clicking, and it saves on space. If it could be implemented for the individual then it would work well.-

Or how about instead of them being automatic, it links to something like a popup window of the image when you click on the link? So you remain on the same page but don't automatically see them.-
@sim that would be neat. I'm thinking about this stuff since I haven't totally abandoned working on my own frontend.

Yeah. It could work. I think twitter has something similar that works... I think expanding has brought up a popup window when I was there. I think that also helped because you don't lose where you are on the timeline itself when trying to expand conversations like you would here. Just depends on whether popups look good to you or not. I would say not to abandon working on your own frontend... could be good experience.-

Or another option. Drop the preview screen, and just have people click to expand an image when they want to see one. They would have to do this anyway for some images that are too large.
