-
on one hand it's good to ~support the creators~
on the other hand i'm running out of shelf space. also i don't actually have income right now -
@hakui I fail to see what you are trying to accomplish by covering a cartoon with money. https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/234279

@sumi Yes, it will and it does. How much depends on how much money you print in relation to the total pool of currency in circulation, and the new physical or work capital being created as you print it. No printing except for reposition of damaged bills will cause negative inflation, printing at the same speed the economy grows will cause none, and printing faster than the economy grows will devaluate the coin.

@sumi @hakui @chen Yes, in case of producing an excess mass.
But as far as I understand, current schemes of making money from the air rely upon credits and loans between state structures, so there ARE money but they may be non-existent in a material form.

@tijagi @hakui @chen That sounds like a workaround to what @nerthos said. Like "Potato Knishes we cant just hand them cash so lets enter another zero in the electronic ledger and tell them it is state backed money so no one will question it"
-
@sumi You can do this, but then you carry the risk of the economy crumbling completely if for some reason most people try to take their money from the banks at once, I don't remember the name of this situation in english, in spanish it's called a "corrida bancaria". That causes the coin to not lose value by a 1% monthly or so, but rather you get an inflation of over 200% in a few months. Countries are too stupid or too confident usually to consider this and do it anyway, but it's the same as if you keep getting gambling debt with the mafia. You probably won't be asked for the money back as long as you regularly pay a bit of what you owe, but if the mafia ever needs money you'll end up at the bottom of a river.
