  1. NV is the best one at letting the character be a person rather than a toy to be thrown around by the factions though. In 1, 2 and 3 it feels like the character just does whatever he's told.

Well the thing of 4 against NV at least.
4's solo route "well...go be tied to -that- faction then."
NV solo route "make your own faction then."

      1. @katiekats I feel NV's solo route to be a bit... hopeless in the long run? compared to other endings, but it's nice to have it there.

I mean, it's literally just "you're all batcave, ANARCHY" so I see what you mean. I just like it, entirely because it is that, NCR are to many, the 'good' choice, yet they have a fair history of abusing the hell out of anyone not NCR, you can find a lot about them pushing people into poverty cos of taxes, as the very nicest example. Legion...I don't even need to go into why they're bad. Then House is as corrupt as they come. So even if the solo route may turn bad, it feels quite like you're choosing your own fate, rather than let it be decided by one of the assholes.

          1. @katiekats I disliked the NCR because they represent everything that's wrong with the present. Individuals don't matter, only the "country". The Legion I like a bit more but they... just want to keep being a tribe? they couldn't deal with an actual threat like the Enclave or anything like that, and the wasteland would keep being that for as long as they're there. House might be fairly authoritarian but the guy actually WANTS humanity to be something again, and has the resources and smarts to reconstruct or eventually settle another planet. The solo route is really nice in regards to freedom as you actually get a chance as doing things on your own terms, but I didn't pick it because at the end of the day you'd just turn Vegas back into a money making machine and nothing else. I still think House is the better option.

NCR is, yeah. You can find a lot that shows they're extremely nationalistic, to the side of "if you're not us, you're having a cherry life." Legion is quite interesting, in that they're the reverse of NCR. NCR seems good, but is kiwi underneath. Legion seems horrible, but has good ideas underneath. It's just...tough to get past the whole slaves and sexism thing. Then House...you're probably right really that House does seem to be going for more, he's just also very exploitative. He plays on the feeling of 'too good to be true'

              1. @katiekats I suppose I just didn't mind the Legion that much due to my own ideas. While I don't like how they handle the slavery thing, and I don't like the sexism either, it's fitting of a faction made up of literal warring tribes. And I don't personally dislike slavery completely, I just think it should only be forced upon foul criminals that are unable to pay back their debt to their victims and society. As for House, he's... well, I see the character as a portrayal of an actual genius with good intentions but a justified lack of faith in humanity. He takes the reigns tightly because he doesn't think humanity is responsible enough, and has more than enough proof that it's the case. I know for a fact I'd do exactly the same considering my life experiences. Force the world to work for it's own betterment, whether they want to or not. He won't exploit people who do their job and contribute, but he'll also make the most of his assets.

The thing I find with the Legion really is, remove Caeser, and it's gonna go way worse (and if you do, it kinda does) and Caeser has some big flaws. One of which is one of the more interesting characters, Joshua Graham. Then with House, yeah don't get me wrong, I very much see your point. I think it's just a difference of general thoughts. I didn't trust House enough as much as I trusted myself, so the thought of "well let everyone go free without the influences of assholes, if raiders is the result, cool I've a robot army in waiting." Was more tempting.

                  1. @katiekats That's true. Caesar is the only thing holding it together properly as he isn't a bloodthirsty tribal. The legion needs an intellectual leader to not become just a big tribe of savages or just crumble. As for the rest, yeah, I get you. You value the idea of freedom more than I did when playing the game. I didn't much care for the freedom of the Mojave when weighed against the chance to reconstruct humanity.

On that noting though. While I think New Vegas is up there with the good DLCs of the world. I wasn't too big a fan of how they tied stuff into the Legion.

Joshua Graham? Well he is interesting and there to expose a flaw in the Legion. Cos like, wow we totally needed more of those made obvious.

Ulysses? Was formerly part of the Legion, and still seems to have ties.

It feels like the DLCs are a bit "see? The Legion create interesting people!"

                      1. @katiekats Haha, true. They needed a bit more diversity in that regard.
