how come in every movie about aliens, good or evil, the entire planet earth is basically just a third world country compared to the other planets

@mrmattimation It's because we cannot reach them, so the narrative is usually that they reach us, hence are likely more advanced technologically.
That is, of course, if the setting is XX-XXI century Earth. If it's The Future, then aliens are allowed to be regressive and stupid all the time.
