So to play an original xbox game on my 360, I have to connect to the internet and install a specific update to allow it to run.... well its better than sony at least, who just discontinue ALL porting of previous console games

@purplephish20 well you will need a actual Xbox 360 harddrive to do it too :P
-
@purplephish20 Actually PS3 allows PS1 games to play. PS2 porting was abysmal, though.
-
@electroidfire I do, its just for this specific game it needs me to install software just to make it compatible
-
@purplephish20 My PS3 now has a small amount of spit on it
-
@purplephish20 Alright,just making sure you knew :P
-
@scribble Original ps3s did, the later ones discontinued all ps1 and ps2 porting I believe to cut costs
-
@purplephish20 Yeah, each game needs a different set of compatibility hacks to run, so rather than bloat out the firmware with hundreds of patches for games a lot of users will never even play, they make them available on demand via download. It makes a lot of sense.
-
@purplephish20 I have a PS3 Slim and I can play PS1 games. Maybe not with the new slims.
-
@purplephish20 Ps3 slims from 2009 through 2012 were PS1 compatible but for super slims,i don't know
-
@electroidfire @scribble Hmmm, not as bad as I though then. @ceruleanspark and I suppose, some games dont need a patch update, i was just surprised by this one
-
@purplephish20 Well in the end,the person who wins with backwards compatiblility is PC ;p
-
@electroidfire Bleh... I almost tore my hair out earlier today trying to work a ps1 emulator... I failed
-
@purplephish20 pSX is super easy to use as long as you have the BIOS. It's an almost perfect emulation.
-
@scribble Oh you have a PS3
-
@purplephish20 really :L well i guess it depends on what emulator you had/what platform you got the emulator like for example: PC,Android,iPhone and etc
-
@noirbatch Yup, but I don't go on it that much nowadays. Mostly for Rock Band Blitz lately.
-
@scribble that any good?
-
@noirbatch Oh yes, it's a lot of fun and it's a bargain track pack too.
-
@scribble ooo :3
-
@redenchilada okie dokie....
-
@purplephish20 I will mention that it tripped over The Legend of Dragoon's copyright protection mechanism, though. ePSXe gets around that but I've found it's not as good of an emulation in some cases.

@purplephish20 Just use pSX. LoD is the only game I've had problems with it with, and that game has issues on anything that isn't a real PS1. The internet'll tell you where to get the BIOS, and then you can just stick the game discs in your computer and play that way (or you can use disc images too)
-
@redenchilada Yeah Im totally refering to downloading games I no longer have on disk.... #facepalm
-
@purplephish20 Just get the image and pick it from the emulator. I can't really be any more specific without being at home and having the emulator in front of me, sorry.
-
@redenchilada Jesus christ I have no idea...
-
@purplephish20 What format is the game in right now?
-
@redenchilada ECM file
-
@purplephish20 I believe you can load that as a disc image. Just open the emulator, Load Disc Image, and pick it. It should run the normal PS1 boot screen and then play it.
-
@redenchilada Im honestly giving up, this is just hell, It cant find any bloody files
-
@purplephish20 You've pointed it to the PS1 BIOS, right?
-
@redenchilada Its done it! I had no bloody BIOS!
-
@purplephish20 That's an important part of the emulator, yeah. Can't run games if it doesn't know how to process anything.
-
@redenchilada Now.... I cant find the bloody game in the folder I saved it.... wat
