    7. @pegasusjones you would have to deal with the "wants" of the machine though and the "need to be long" and the "need for socialism" half the brain sould probably be teared out

    8. @vt3c the processin of the brain is over a billion times larger than thatbof earth elements supplied with millions of electrons

          1. @redenchilada ik i got that, but the java script is what i dont understand, most code has about the same syntax so you can understand it partially

    10. @pegasusjones im sure the first problem would be the machine overheatig itself or automatically turning itself off, and also a power outage would kill it since the brain and the heart needs a small electrical charfe that always goes through the body and without organs it is not there, or so i believe

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:28:08 UTC from web
      1. @thechihuahuax CMOS have been doing that for decades.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:28:48 UTC from web
    11. @pegasusjones Possible? It is more than possible. Do we have the skill needed to make it a reality? That's the question.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:30:20 UTC from web
      1. @nerthos We already do have limited scale neural emulation. A number of supercomputers are devoted to the task. Last time I checked we could just about emulate the brain of a rat.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:32:06 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
        1. @ceruleansquawk Then, it's just a matter of time. The main issue is not developing neural emulation capable of complex thought, but to find how to remove the capability of performing certain processes to keep control over those systems.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:35:26 UTC from web
          1. @nerthos Neural emulation is a really inefficient way to build a digital conciousness because the human brain itself is hilariously inefficient.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:37:40 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
            1. @ceruleansquawk Yeah, but it's a great way to study how to modify human brains to make our species better.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:39:01 UTC from web
              1. @nerthos I would prioritise upgrading people physically so that talented individuals have longer lifetimes in which to solve the problem of human transcendence.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:45:02 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                1. @ceruleansquawk My priority would be porting telomerase to humans, which is not easy because a way to control cells so they don't become cancer is needed. Doing that would give humans relative immortality.

Tuesday, 23-Jul-13 07:49:55 UTC from web
            2. @ceruleansquawk but the proccessing power is off the scale

              2. @thechihuahuax Perhaps, but given that 2/3rds of it winds up occupied by keeping you from suffocating and soiling yourself, it's somewhat wasted.
