  1. Brown isn't actually a flavour. I know that sounds obvious, but I just figured that out.

    1. @thelastgherkin Are blue, red, green and purple still flavors?

      1. @scribus Purple is a fruit. This is all I'm certain of.

        1. @pony I think orange is one, too.

      3. @scribus All colours have flavours to me. Brown seems to have been the last one for me to realise has a disconnect.

        1. @thelastgherkin Not even something stereotypicaal and obvious like chocolate?

          1. @scribus Argh this is hard to explain. A lot of colours taste like food, in my head. In my head, brown in particular tasted like a sauce we have in England literally called brown sauce. Today is the day that I realised that brown as a flavour doesn't exist outside my head, and brown sauce is a mixture of tomatoes, vinegar, and spices that gets its name from its colour rather than its flavour.

            1. @thelastgherkin Ah, okay, now I get it. I was thinking in the other direction, that the color wasn't associated with a taste in your mind.

              1. @scribus A comparable analogue is how I used to have trouble realising numbers were divided into "odds and evens" rather than "reds and evens".

                1. @thelastgherkin Huh. That one's new to me.

                  1. @scribus Odd numbers are red, with 23 being the most vivid. Even numbers are mainly blue, but can generally range from greens to purples. The exception being 1 and 2, which are blue and red respectively.

                    1. @thelastgherkin 23 is the most vivid number, you say...?

                      1. @scribus The most beautiful shade of red. Not sure it actually exists in real life.

                        1. @thelastgherkin What about me. What color am I

                        2. @thelastgherkin does that shade of red have a flavor? I think of desaturated mid-tone brown as a bitter-sour sort of flavor personally. I'm not especially kinesthetic, but my wife is.

                          1. @pony The colours in my head don't have tastes.
