    1. @yodelerty They're a fan of the French soldiers from the Holy Grail movie?

      1. @awlderpy How bizarre. They could at least say something if that were the case.

              1. @awlderpy Oh wow! And I could have been having fun all this time.

                                1. @yodelerty One of the things I find ever so enjoyable; ever since even before joining the military. I had practiced with scatter guns and old school bolt-actions with my foster parent's uncles.

                                                    1. @yodelerty I've been thinking about it for weeks; really want to test my skill at this and see if I can still make a competent round. Then I'll justify buying the 'right' tools to make more precise things.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:36:09 UTC from web
                                                      1. @awlderpy I'm honestly not really sure what any of that means. Heh.

                                                        1. @yodelerty Ammunition. I had tried hand at making ammunition using spent shells, new primers, black powder and copper. The process is more arduous than anything without the so-called proper tools.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:46:24 UTC from web
                                                            1. @yodelerty Not the worst, no. Just have to tap the old primers out of the shells, place new ones in there (usually by press, better not use a hammer), pour your powder in the shell, pack it, then on goes the bullet and tap the opening in place to fit it all. The hard part is forging the copper without a cast.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:49:13 UTC from web
                                                              1. @awlderpy Ah, I got ya. I guess that's why you'd need proper tools to do it then.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:51:04 UTC from web

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:53:21 UTC from web

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:54:52 UTC from web

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:07:42 UTC from web

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:21:08 UTC from web

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:25:53 UTC from web

    3. @oracle For protection from bears! And Americans! And American bears!!

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:28:28 UTC from MuSTArDroid
    4. @oracle The theory behind them is pretty simple, so you mostly have to focus on precision and provide a strong power source for power. A car battery is an ideal source if the weight isn't an issue.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:31:32 UTC from web
    5. @oracle It should work as long as it's properly built. I've been thinking about making one but first I need to get a whole bunch of capacitors. As a power source I selected a bike battery. They're a bit over 1kg so on a belt portability isn't an issue. I could always use a small battery and just charge the capacitors but that'd restrict the fire rate too much-

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:50:31 UTC from web
    6. @oracle You plan on carrying loaded capacitors and swapping them as they get depleted, or charge the gun before firing?

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:56:33 UTC from web
    7. @oracle Makes enough sense. I'm partial to the other method, but for portability swapping them might be the best option.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 02:58:28 UTC from web
    8. @oracle Well I didn't know what you wanted it for. When I develop something like that I make it specifically for personal use. I don't want others who might have different ideas to mine to have the coolest toys.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:03:16 UTC from web
    9. @oracle Yeah, magnetic guns are probably the best way to do that.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:07:41 UTC from web
    10. @oracle Also give the soldier a solar pane that covers his backpack and he'll be able to recharge the capacitor whenever he's not in combat.

Monday, 28-Oct-13 03:08:39 UTC from web
    11. @oracle In some situations it is, mostly in situations where soldiers have to wait for extended periods of time doing nothing.
