    I like the idea of a coil gun, a lot. Wonder how much more lightweight and accurate they can be made vs gas charged.

      @awlderpy Depending on the structure, rate of fire and the range you want it to have, you can have a gun anywhere from 1.5kg to tons.

        @nerthos It seems that they would be inheritly inefficient with a metal projectile, maybe I'm thinking wrongly.

          @awlderpy You literally cannot have a coil or rail gun without a metal projectile. They work by magnetic induction.

            @nerthos I didn't think of that that way, really I was thinking of the magnetic saturation of the projectile and resistance that it might cause. Again my knowledge as to how all this works is limited.
