Chatrooms are considered more instantaneous - that is to say, conversations have a finite lifetime, that's usually in the realm of hours, and posts have little permanence. StatusNet, in contrast, keeps a record of all posts forever, and conversations can easily be extended across days, or between people who are never on at the same time, which is something most chatrooms can't do.<br \/><br \/>What I'm trying to say is I take issue with the site being called a &quot;chatroom&quot; when calling it something like &quot;open-ended social networking&quot; better fits what the site's capable of."}
