Japanese long sounds aren't drawn out nearly the same way. I'll use a borrowed word as an easy example. \u30cf\u30fc\u30c8 is pronounced hahto it's not like you say haaato or something. But it is longer than if you just said \u30cf\u30c8. If that makes any sense. Also you're right \u5c0f\u676f is read shouhai. I was just using examples that popped up on my ime. Also i said \u3053\u3046\u306f\u3044 because that's how \u5f8c\u8f29 is written as it's reading."}
