I just researched that phenomenon and I found a thread where people were discussing that too. The conclusion is that Americans usually don't eat soft-boiled eggs or fried eggs with the yellow egg yolk up. As far as I can see they don't like them or consider them uncooked and not edible (maybe fear of salmonella). Only people of European descent ate soft-boiled eggs but stopped after a while."}
