{"version":"1.0","provider_name":"Rainbow Dash Network","provider_url":"http:\/\/rainbowdash.net\/","type":"link","title":"Zenneth (zennx)'s status on Wednesday, 12-Apr-17 22:17:59 UTC","author_name":"Zenneth (zennx)","author_url":"http:\/\/rainbowdash.net\/zennx","url":"http:\/\/rainbowdash.net\/notice\/4746042","html":"My week so far:<br \/>&gt;Aunt, Uncle and cousins (Sam &amp; the twins) come over for 1 week vacation<br \/>&gt;me and Myra take Aunt and Uncle to the river for a swim<br \/>&gt;return at night<br \/>&gt;Sam is in tears<br \/>&gt;one of the twins managed to drop a hammer on her laptop and now it won't turn on<br \/>&gt;do the usual check up<br \/>&gt;it's a HDD problem (probably dead, most likely boot sectors are damaged)<br \/>&gt;take a 4h drive and buy a new Hard Drive, no HDD of equal size at shop, decide to take an SSD instead<br \/>&gt;install SSD, it shows signs of life<br \/>&gt;all systems nominal, only damage was on HDD (and a dent on the case, but it's metallic so I can buff it out later)<br \/>&gt;install old HDD on a external case (bought at store)<br \/>&gt;chkdsk; attempt to recover data;<br \/>&gt;no data is recoverable, but the HDD will probably be usable as an external from now on<br \/><br \/>somehow the hammer landed on the laptop just right so it would only cause a surge and wipe it clean<br \/><br \/>It's was a million-to-one chance<br \/><br \/>mfw I remember million-to-one chances happen nine-times-out-of-ten"}
