Typically the dispensers are a metal cylinder and a piston with a plastic piston head with silicone gaskets that ride along the cylinder wall that require some kind of lubricant. I only know this because I used to work at a factory that had a bunch of them. The lube gel is safe to eat but tastes terrible, and yes, I did try it so I know what it tastes like."}
