I think more and more that he was a religious nut. They say he was dressed up as the Joker and even refers to himself as such to the police. In this case it could be argued that a man is fully immersed in an alternative personality; that he believes he is the joker, which is where I say that may be wrong. A man who has gone so far as to immerse himself in a personality like that, would be 100% informed on who he is portraying, and would have a complete jigsaw puzzle of his chosen character in his head, and the simple thing is... his was inaccurate, the Joker; never in a million years would do something like what he did, a mindless shooting spree... Two face maybe, but not the joker... The man was likely a satanic nut who is pretending to be like he is in the hope he gets protection under the mental health act. As opposed to coming across as a clear thinking Satan worshiper, which he likely is.
