Two psychologists did a survey of over 25,000 bronies (based on personality etc.) and compared it to a control group.  The study was focused on the fact that it was a unique opportunity to observe a fandom/community in its genesis as opposed to years after its formation.  I forget how I found it on the web but it's a curious read.  The results (so far, they are still continuing research) are that bronies are, more or less, just nicer people.  Who'da thunk it?</html>
