Here's the story: Robotnik is developing high-tech robo-suits to help the animals in their daily lives, let old people live longer, etc. and otherwise building new technology to help advance society and increase the standard of living for all the animals and Sonic's running around destroying all his hard work and technology because he can't bear the thought of society advancing in any sort of manner and wants to continue with the primitive living-in-caves society.
