Just ask this person why he is doubting you so much. If he is really a friend he'll give you a good explanation. If not, well, then you had a good reason to treat this matter like ripping off a bandaid. Letting something like this grow roots and fester is a VERY BAD THING nomatter what the reason for doubting you on his part is/was at the first place
