The disvantages far outclass the advantages. The Elite Riot Gear gives me pretty much the same DT as the best sets of power armor, weights less, is classified as medium armor, and gives me a bunch of attribute bonuses. Then for radiation I use the space suit and mask, not worrying about DT because I can just snipe everything or use my massive health pool as a damage sponge while pumping blood sausages and thin red paste.
