Most kids grow up believing what their parents believe, which doesn't make sense for everything else in culture. In ancient society, it would make sense to do what your father did which was what his father did and so on. It doesn't make sense to be a religion for example just because your parents believe it. But that's what happens, with a minority of exceptions involving people who eventually choose to believe something different whether out of rebellion, new relationships or education
