What gear do you have? And what level are you? Also, it's not uncommon to have to chug potions in tougher fights on that game. Try to always have some with you, it usually helps a lot. Going with daggers and light armour can be pretty difficult, at least until you have high sneak skill and nice poisons to use. A bow is probably better for taking down trolls and such.
