Russian is very very close to it in almost every single way, it's almost difficult to differentiate the two.  Language origins typically are not this easily seen but Slavonic benefited greatly by being accepted by the Byzantine Church, alongside Greek.  Shows how much religion affected (or effected) European languages.</html>
