The first reason is, obviously, because I'm a sexist pig. But the other reason is that I just don't see why I SHOULD. I don't want to write a female character just so I can say "HEY GUYS! MY CARTOON HAS A STRONG INDEPENDENT FEMALE LEAD! I'M PROGRESSIVE!" If I'm going to write a character like that, it'll be because I want to, not because I feel like I have to.
