I think he'd be better off just playing the games themselves, their stories are <span class="striket">kind of</span> very convoluted, so they're a hard sell. I'm personally not even a huge fan of the writing in the MGS games anyway, so I'd recommend them more on their take of genre principles, core gameplay, and atmosphere of espionage as opposed to their writing.
