Animal Collective are one of my favourite groups, and Merriweather Post Pavilion is an effortless modern classic (I haven't listened to Painting With yet, but I've enjoyed the singles off of it a lot and am looking forward to checking it out in its entirety as soon as I can). I myself am also a musician, though I mostly just have a large collection of unfinished demos and undeveloped motifs that I've written. It's neat to hear you're a journalist too, I love the discussion of music as a cultural object.
