They're on their own side, and if it looks like they're on yours, it is because you achieving your goal furthers their own in some way. Having no compunctions about &quot;betrayals&quot; or anything of the sort, they will simply leave you wherever you cease being useful. I'm sure we'll see an example of this when some hard-right pundit says something awful in a public space, expecting Trump to have their back.
