Those crap DRV8825 stepper motor drivers! One of them decided to completely stop working and heat up like a stove when doing nothing. I'm glad I noticed it soon enough to prevent any damage to the workpiece (just a little scratch) or mainboard. So to summarize: two out of three axis work, one is a fire hazard. I ordered replacement drivers in a 5-pack for effectively 2 bucks per piece. As far as replacements go it is fairly cheap to repair.
