The present beats me mercilessly as I draw in the last of my strength. The future taunts me as my courage to face the danger slips away. Though I push on into the future, night will fall as my heart continues to die alone. After all that I've become, I am only one. I'm on my own here and no one is left to be the hero; someone must take up the mantle. Someone must face pain, so that the rest may live freely & happily. If it is to be so, I shall answer the call; to shelter those who cannot defend themselves or need my help.
