I've just been to things before where people's parents were around and it's rarely been a comfortable situation. The fact that I'm (as far as I'm aware) the oldest member of this group by a fair margin just makes it worse. It's genuinely nothing personal. Take a few deep breaths and don't assume the worst (wasn't that the point of the crazy-Twilight episode you referenced...?)
