When it started, it seemed centered on /co/, which was 99.9% anonymous. That's not a community in my mind as there are no individuals. Nobody knew anybody else, and it was pure pony discussion, but that was it. Many of these weren't anonymous; people picked handles, came to know each other. Friendships developed, but tensions also did. Not everyone gets along with everyone else. But that is part of a community. To keep it relatively short, I'd say that from the beginning, we've *gained* a sense of community more than lost it; just because it's not easy doesn't mean it's bad. But what the hell do I know?</html>
