Is it necessary however?  No.  The problem I have is that people are calling it necessary and whatnot.  The site being down for a while isn't anything to freak out about, but neither will the site being down make or break the SOPA situation in my opinion.  Treat it like it is, a potential help to the situation regardless of how large or little it will impact the outcome with minor inconvenience for a short while, not the end of the world.</html>
