  1. @yodeleerie They're an acquired taste. You have to have a patience and appreciation for the classic JRPG model of gameplay to enjoy them, and since I grew up playing lots of JRPGs the formula feels very familiar and comfortable to me. It's really understandable how someone would be bored by a Final Fantasy game as they're not really action packed or engage with the player directly. I think FF VII is a great game but it's not my favourite in the series (it's not even my favourite PS1 Final Fantasy game, which is FF IX). I don't really care for FF XIII, that's one of the weakest in the whole series for me and I didn't enjoy it. My absolute favourite is FF VI on the SNES, which is actually a game I hold in very high regard for having a lot of depth in its admittedly simplistic turn based system but also for juggling an entire ensemble of dynamic character arcs incredibly well and featuring one of gaming's most charismatic and effective villains.
