@marsh It's a paid game, and especially because I despite using Windows I'm not going to spend money on Windows software.
-
@woona May be true, but I've never played it and I really want a Linux TF2 hat or whatever we may get.
-
In completely unrelated news: I wish L4D2 wouldn't be the first game VALVe will release on Linux.
-
@mrconventrix I find it ironic that, even though you are telling me to drop it, you keep bringing it up even now.
-
RT @woona Instead of constantly telling eachother to drop it. A more simple solution is to just shut up about it.

@mrconventrix If it was deleted before I would have replied RDN would have given me an error about the post not existing. Besides that, I looked at the context feature and it was a reply to this post: http://rainbowdash.net/notice/1697706
-
@mrconventrix No offense, but deleting your post after I reply to it and then acting like I'm starting a flamewar is just pathetic.
-
@omni Hey, that was a reply to some post. Dammit, RDN, stop making me look so random because the original post was deleted.
-
@mrconventrix Which part in "im not gonna continue talking about it anyway." is not dropping the subject?
-
@omni Okay, now I'm misreading. I'm obviously taking this too personally.
-
@mrconventrix I am only stating piracy is not the same as theft. Stop assuming that means I download all my music illegally.
-
@ceruleanspark Fact: not everywhere. Here in the Netherlands, downloading music is still legal, but uploading is not.
-
@mrconventrix I joined the discussion when you and @hakupony were talking about the difference between piracy and theft, not when you were talking about the morality of downloading without paying the artist.
-
@mrconventrix *facehoofs* Cut that out. We're talking about piracy vs. theft. That I say it's not the same doesn't instantly make me a jerk who doesn't want to give artists what they deserve.

@mrconventrix This discussion isn't about it being morally wrong or not, it's about piracy vs. theft, which is simply not the same. And now, .mp3, .m4a and .wav aren't comparable at all. They use greatly different codecs and are not compatible with each other. It's like putting a car engine in a motorcycle, it doesn't fit. And if you are against downloading music you do not own, you should not use YouTube because it downloads a copy of the song to your device so it can play it. It's that easy, really. (Don't take me as someone who only downloads music and never buys, because I do buy music I enjoy. You are clearly seeing me as such a person because I am trying to state that piracy is not the same as theft.)
-
@mrconventrix You are talking about "downloading". If you listen to a song on YouTube, you are downloading a copy you have not bought yourself. The location this data is saved his no effect on what kind of data it is. Also, most illegal downloads aren't in the format you use for purchasing items either. (Most illegal downloads use .mp3, but legal downloads from iTunes are .m4a, and songs on a CD are .wav). And no, your point does not stand, because you are not TAKING any money from them. If I come to your house and make a copy of your driver's license you can consider me rude for doing that, but I haven't stolen anything because you still have the original thing. Here is the key point: http://urlybits.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/piracy-600x597.jpg
-
@mrconventrix You are not using Linux, but you ARE saving the song in the temporary folder of your iDevice.
-
@mrconventrix That doesn't change the fact that it's downloading. Also, if I just grab an album and save it in /tmp (the temporary directory of my Linux system), that doesn't make it anything else than downloading either.
-
@mrconventrix You are talking about buying music and not downloading it in the same conversation where you tell people how to make their iDevices download music from YouTube in the background (yes, that is downloaded and saved in a temporary folder). That sounds a bit hypocritical, being honest.
-
@mrconventrix There is just a certain amount of money one spends for music (or owns) - and before the internet that amount for me was zero because the good music never was at the radio so I didn't know it even existed. So I would not spent more money for music if I hadn't other options - I would sepnd no money at all. In addition, I refuse to accept the term "stealing". If you steal something from me, I don't have this object anymore. So I not only lose in the way that there is less demand...

@mrdragon I'm sorry to see you go, even though I can understand the decision. I wish you the best with whatever you will do. Will we still be seeing you around as a community member or not at all anymore?
-
*hugs @MrDragon @Colfax @CeruleanSpark @Purpletinker @cabal @Redenchilada @Scribus @Communistprime @Ecmc* Thanks to all of you for making RDN possible the way it is. I know sometimes it becomes a hellish place here, but that's more human nature than your fault. It's impossible to always get 100% along with each other. But still, in general, I think this is one of the best managed communities I've seen in a while. Sure, sometimes things happen that upset others, but that doesn't mean this place is terrible. The site is quite usable, the moderation seems to be about right (neither too extreme, nor so soft it becomes like 4chan) and all-along this is one of my favorite places to be. I know that most of you don't often hear what you deserve to hear, so I will speak it out loud: Thank you, all of you, for making this place possible. I'm happy it exists, even though I may sometimes sound like I'm not. RDN is a great place, and I don't want it to disappear at all, it became like a second home

Dear GNOME team: Tray icons aren't the root of all evil. If there is anything evil, it's how GNOME3 focuses more on looks than functionality.

@techdisk42 The worst is when the player blames the game for their own mistakes, especially when they breeze past messages and then wonder how to do something the game just finished explaining how to do.

@pony I have enough to back-up, but I always end up backing up my least worthy data, for some reason...
-
@eaglehooves I first need to make sure it actually boots properly, then start rebranding a bit and... if I don't stop one day, it'll stay take some months until it's of reasonable quality.
-
@toksyuryel Ah, I see.
