  1. @toksyuryel It's not good to remind him of it nonetheless. And at times, it's really hard to keep self-control, I know it from experience. (At some times, I just become so upset that I can't shut up about something, no matter what.)

  2. @toksyuryel What does rsync actually do? I hear about it more often but I have no clue.

  3. Because cajunbrony23 was freaking out over it not-too-long-ago and got threatened to be banned if he would continue to talk about the subject. Those repeats will only remember him about it and make him feel uncomfortable, with the risk he may feel the need to comment on it again.

  4. @eaglehooves I'm calling it Nyanos, right now, for a lack of better name. I'm basing it on Arch Linux. It's nothing serious, mostly for fun. I want to make an easy-to-use Linux system just for the hell of it.

  5. @minti Arch Linux is really a base system running little things, but the installer can still get the network set up properly. It's a rolling-release distro, though, so not really useful for a very serious server.

  6. @pony Repartitioning isn't that dangerous, just make sure you back stuff up before you do it and everything should be fine (shouldn't go wrong anyway, but it's always good to have a backup).

  7. @omni Derp I tried to start a non-existing application on boot.

  8. Dammit, why does my WIP Linux distribution keep crashing every time I boot it?...

  9. @derpyshy Those repeats are really, really badly timed...

  10. @pony I was more sad about the "uninstalling Ubuntu" part. Even though it's not my favorite Linux distribution, it's still Linux :(

  11. @techdisk42 With Gparted it's not scary, the default Arch Linux formatting tool, fdisk, is a lot more scary though.

  12. @minti It sounds relatively logical, though.

  13. @techdisk42 Partitioning always is the better solution, but scary to a lot of users.

  14. @minti You sound smarter than me right now, so I'm just going to nod my head in agreement, hoping that @ceruleanspark doesn't notice my lack of knowledge here.

  16. @eaglehooves Can you even install a driver before installing an OS? As far as I know drivers are OS-dependent, or am I mistaking?

Monday, 16-Jul-12 21:26:26 UTC from web in context
  17. @pony Just a heads-up regarding that: because of technical reasons (Wubi living inside a Windows NTFS partition, instead of using a much better format like ext4), Wubi can easily be damaged if your system loses power or otherwise gets shut down incorrectly.

Monday, 16-Jul-12 21:23:16 UTC from web in context
  18. @pony Ah, I guess you used Wubi then?

  19. @pony Which distribution, if I may ask?

  20. @eaglehooves Eenope.

  22. @hakupony in my opinion, This Day Aria the best song of the series... Cadance's voice is AMAZING, the song actually has build-up instead of just popping put of nowhere, and it just has that amazing darker tone that you really don't see otherwise.

  25. @redenchilada Ironically enough, I worked at a store that sold car parts for several months, but I don't know more about a car than that it drives when you turn it on and put your foot on the pedal.

Monday, 16-Jul-12 20:55:46 UTC from web in context
  26. @redenchilada But that's hard :(

Monday, 16-Jul-12 20:50:38 UTC from web in context
  27. @redenchilada That is a way simpler explanation than mine, but it still shows the point of a distribution pretty clearly.

  28. @mrsconventrix Linux is very modular, everything is a program. And with that I mean, everything. Because of this, there are many distributions (also named distros). Each distro has their own default collection of software, defining how that particular distro looks and feels like. (The customisation can go really deep, for example: Ubuntu ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_(operating_system) ) and Linux Deepin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Deepin) look and feel quite different).

  30. @cloudchaser Noise, a relatively old genre. Okay, I was joking with Merzbow having beautiful lyrics, he never sings. I know some bands who sing beautiful stuff, but I can't recall a good example of the top of my head now.
