  1. @pony if you put RaspBMC on it and only play movies off of USB drives, it should last a very long while.

  2. @pony That's a really common use case (So much so that you can buy preinstalled SD cards with XBMC on them for that express purpose) so I imagine it's pretty optimized and won't present a problem for you

  3. @pony i think mine was an outlier. I was rewriting it almost daily.

  4. @pony If you're not overworking the Pi, the card will be fine. My bitcoin-miner-Pi has been operating continuously for like 3 months straight without issue, but its CPU usage rarely passes the 50% mark.

  5. @pony It turns out people in favour of DRM have more money than people in favor of civil rights.

  6. @pony It's powered by one of those Mini-USB connectors (If you're good with a soldering iron you can replace it with a proper connection, but most people...aren't), so it can only draw as much power as the USB spec allows, which is barely enough to run a mouse and keyboard, the network card and keep reading properly from the SD card. (Cards frequently get corrupted during normal operation because of this specific issue)

  7. @pony Horrible because the Pi acts kinda weird if you overwork it because of its anemic power supply.

  8. @pony It's actually pretty unambiguous. Bypassing DRM is illegal in all contexts, regardless of whether or not the DRM is infringing on some other right you think you have, like first sale doctrine or whatever.

  9. @pony QEMU can help you :-P. Could be possible that Windows 3.1 wouldn't even lag.

  10. @pony You could run it in a VM. I can't see why you'd actually want that, because it'd be horrible

  11. @pony Yes. They're still illegal because you have to bypass hardware DRM to run the OS on anything other than an approved device.

  12. @pony I'm not sure it would run on the Pi's ARM SOC. The structures are just too fundamentally different from what Windows expects

  13. @pony Oh, I meant the Pi.

  15. @pony I've been looking into that for a long time.

  16. @pony I'm guessing Windows couldn't handle that much power.

  17. @pony Yeah, who doesn't miss Windows' first attempt to knock off Apple?

  18. @celestgunter @pony would be your best bet on that. I know @redenchilada is into the cards but I don't think he actually plays with them.

  28. @pony Aluminum wire is extremely cheap. Travel down to Ben Franklin's and buy some wire or product that is non-applicable for whatever process.

  29. @pony Well, honestly speaking, as far as my writing goes, I don't care about what ANYBODY thinks about it. I know it's awesome, and I don't feel the need to prove myself to anybody. However, many people do. Ignore distractions and be true to how you feel, regardless of what it means. You'll lose friends, but you'll express yourself, and that's what's important.
