  1. @nerthos Sir are you aware of how euphoric you're being?

  2. @cinnamonswirl I have to agree

  3. @cinnamonswirl It seems like a reasonable system until you lose thousands of followers because your blog gets targeted by people who disagree with you. Meanwhile less popular smut gets ignored.

  4. @pony They're both wrong I've decided, but HN is more wrong.

  5. @cinnamonswirl Now I'm starting to see Reddit in a new light. What about Tumblr? They seem pretty quick to shut down blogs.

  8. @scoot "Not bothering" and "big waste" sound like a cop outs. You can gain valuable insight from the principles behind an argument if you try. I don't mean to tell you what to do though, so have it your way.

  9. @snowcone There's always the possibility of arguing which of our values is superior. So far, what I see in @scoot's argument is that he thinks 4chan shouldn't change because it's popular how it is now or that the good of the site outweighs the bad somehow. I don't see that good or the value of popularity the way he seems to and he doesn't see the bad or my value of justice the way I do.

  10. @nerthos Come be a martyr!

  11. @scoot @redenchilada I don't exactly trust the government to enforce all of its laws. We should do our part to make our communities safe.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 09:23:28 UTC from web in context
  12. @snowcone Fair enough. I believe in enforcing laws and providing rights according to the U.S. constitution and bill of rights myself.

  13. @nerthos Yeah. I envy him.

  14. @nerthos How about, "Let's shut down a massive community that can commit crime easily by its sheer size, making it harder for criminals as they're forced to divide themselves. Lets repeat this process whenever possible (aka. do our job)."

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 09:16:07 UTC from web in context
  15. @scoot Since I'm not a fan of the site (4chan), I don't particularly care whether my idea is detrimental to it. You seem uninterested in making any logical argument against mine that I haven't already countered. If I've made some error I'm open to hearing an explanation.

  16. @scoot The lack of any justification for your commentary on my appearance left me with the impression that you only meant to insult me. I never said you insulted me.

  18. @snowcone @scoot And now we've entered into meta-discussion, which I also find appealing from time to time.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 09:07:07 UTC from web in context
  19. @redenchilada I suppose it could be considered the lesser evil to let 4chan remain. Fair point.

  20. @scoot We just need a few more heroes in the world I think. Wanna be one?

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 09:04:49 UTC from web in context
  21. @scoot @snowcone lol. Implying it were ever un-ruined.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 09:02:37 UTC from web in context
  22. @scoot @snowcone I feel the goal should be un-ruining 4chan.

  23. @redenchilada I'm both glad I don't own a fedora and envious of those who do.

  24. @nerthos How would they help in this case?

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:59:37 UTC from web in context
  25. @redenchilada I like that as well.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:58:32 UTC from web in context
  26. @nerthos This isn't just one stranger. I'm not talking about bubble wrapping the entire internet. We have to fight our battles one at a time, and choose them wisely. I figure you understand that much.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:57:37 UTC from web in context
  27. @scoot As surprising as it may be to you, I value what you think. I lift where I stand, so to speak. It would be less effective to mess with 4chan directly than it would be to try and convince people I actually know to some degree. I don't expect to convince you, but, beyond convincing, there's also coming to a better understanding of my own beliefs through discussion, which you've helped. And if there's anything you'd teach me, rather than insulting me, then cool.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:55:43 UTC from web in context
  28. @scoot @redenchilada Also possible, and as each one gets too big for its own good it would need to be downsized or shut down until only smaller anonymous groups remained I think

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:51:59 UTC from web in context
  29. @redenchilada I agree partly. I think smaller, more easily managed, anonymous communities would be good, which would be very likely to appear if 4chan became, er.. nonymous or shut down all of a sudden.

Wednesday, 04-Jun-14 08:50:43 UTC from web in context
  30. @redenchilada There's an interesting thought. But can we really justify not enforcing the law... in order to enforce the law?
