  1. @starlightbolt: I'm not that picky. Probably either Regular or Molestia, but this one is titled as Trollestia and it's relatively close to what I had in mind. http://is.gd/idx2jc

  4. Anypony interested in a pony-pony art trade type thing? I kinda want to see more Princess Celest[plot], so I'm willing to draw a pony in exchange. When I draw ponies, it usually looks kinda like: http://windstone.travisuped.com/index.php?q=/post/list/pony/1 If we do the trade, you only have to draw your side if you're content with what I've done. And if you don't like how I handle it, I'll go back and try to fix it. (with a max of probably 2 times.)

  8. @zarkanorf @elusivemrmadden @scribus WAIT NO WHAT I MEANT IS they'd be easy to mount, kinda, You'ld probably have to be careful to not slam feet against the ground or something, though. Much more suitable size for kids, I think. Hrm.

  13. @flaxx I try to use Skype from time to time, but I don't really have a handy mic setup or anything, and I do a lot better with text conversations since there's a lot more control over timing.

  14. @extremedash I have whatever the default Live account is that comes with an Xbox, since someone let me sign up on their 360 when they brought it over to a different house months ago. But I don't own a 360, so it doesn't do me much good.

  17. @zarkanorf No, I think that's pretty much the expected response when someone's watching an LP of Portal and figured out the puzzle quickly that stumps another player.

  19. @starshine I used to do that a lot when I was trying to polish up lineart. At some point, I realized I hated doing line art, I'm not very good at it in the first place, and just wanted to get straight on to shading/coloring things, so I started to do a rough sketch and then shade/color directly from there. The awkward thing about this approach is that a lot of what I like looking at the most focuses on strong lineart and solid blocks of color, and solid blocks of color doesn't quite work very well if you don't define very clearly where the blocks start and stop beforehand. :B So I'm kinda always at odds with a lot of the things I draw. Undo is still really handy for those tiny mistakes I make time to time, though. But the lack of undo is why I have a hard time doing things in traditional media myself, yes./

  21. @flaxx I think Macromedia? Shockwave? Whoever owns it now still offers 30 day free trials fully-featured of each version of their Flash IDE thing. That might be good for trying to do the MLPFiM type of look as well.

  22. (My personal recommendation for people wanting to get into visual arts: Your output will be worth more as a physical product if you get good at using traditional media like spraypaints, paints in general, markers, cayons, pens, pencils, charcoal, whatever. And it might cost a bit more in the long run to produce, but I think you'll impress a lot more people by being able to do these things wherever you go, regardless of electricity or internet problems than you would by needing a bunch of digital stuff to even have work to show. That, and even in the worst case, when a traditional artwork is ruined, you still have the ashes/ruins/scraps to show for it. It doesn't completely and entirely cease to exist. I can't explain how much these feelings bug me over time. Biggest downside I can think of is that traditional media doesn't have an undo function.)

  23. @flaxx Inkscape? Inkscape is really good for vector work if you can deal with the learning curve. It's also pretty good for matching up with the style of the show, too. I'm not very good at it, but I kinda like it when thinks start to work out. And yeah, if you want to do professional design work, it's a really good idea to at least be familiar with Photoshop in passing, even if you're not a master of it. For me, I just can't really work with it, even thought it was one of the first things I had ever done digital work using. There's also other tools like ArtWeaver, Paint.Net, ArtRage, and similar, buuuut a lot of those are things I outright can't use anymore unless I try to run them through Wine, and that's usually not worth the trouble.

  25. @flaxx I like GIMP, but it's been giving my mouse/tablet drivers a bit of trouble lately. Most recently, I've been using MyPaint, but it's one of those software like openCanvas that is more or less designed for use with a tablet rather than being pretty good with whatever hardware is available.

  27. @flaxx I remember liking it when I used to have it, but I think it's pretty old. I can't say a lot about it now though, since I'm pretty sure it's Windows-only software, and my primary OS in the most recent years has been Ubuntu GNU/Linux.
