  1. @mrmattimation I used to build Age of Empires maps on my buddy's Windows 98 machine with bird spawn points enough to just barely not melt the motherboard

  2. @adiwan I'm willing to let go of ball mice, but I still want me some PS/2 ports because damn it you only give me four USB ports and expect two of them to be mandatory input devices???

  5. Also hoping I coincidentally score a Splatterhouse full-spread ad I was entranced by as a smeet within the comic books, so that would be rad.

  8. OK finally going to finish a Batman story that terrified me when I was eight years old, friggin' Idiot drug-monster popping out from the wall, I couldn't sit straight on the toilet for a month!

  9. On that note, since I've started thinking my novel series would work better with graphics, delving into a couple TPBs and maybe loose issues, for research purposes.

  10. I have tried, now and then, to get into comic books. Never stuck. Usually, I end up digging some indie title that peters out after six issues, other times it becomes painfully obvious that Marvel/DC (and probably others?) aren't respectful to the readers, or creators, or material... It's like, they're such a cool thing, but it's such an awful market. Or, so my luck has been, anyway.

  18. @adiwan Ah, yeah, it's not a year-round snow, here. Maybe further north, yeah, but then the surf becomes a different story, lol.

  19. @adiwan Eh, it's California. It's a local gag that you can surf in the morning, and ski in the afternoon. Or vice-versa.

  21. @adiwan I've got a mountain about an hour away, so snow isn't like completely strange - I have used chains, and I do know of what we call "snow tires." Just never rose beyond "knowing about" to "thinking about." I feel like our snow tires might be "studded" or something, I rode in a car with them once and it had a distinct noise and vibration to it. Nothing bad, just obviously different.

  22. @adiwan Right. Mission accomplished, and hooray for road safety. (Meanwhile, I have never had to change tires for any reason other than baldness or flatness; maybe hand-rotated them, once?)
