  11. @zeeraw True enough. :p Both ways work really. One just excludes people who like to turn off JavaScript cause they're security paranoia freaks.

  12. @zeeraw Hmm. So it's a technique for reducing bandwidth? The reliance on Javascript for that seems like it's not really the best choice. xD

  13. @zeeraw Although doing the views purely with Javascript seems a little far-fetched to me. Dynamic data? Sure. But even static stuff?

  14. @zeeraw Neat. That's how StatusNet should work too but.. it doesn't. xD

  15. @zeeraw Ruby eh? I've never touched that before, and lol node. What are you using to fetch text from the server? Comet? Ajax? Websockets? All three?! :p

  16. @zeeraw I've been meaning to ask anyway. What's the backend like? What transports are you using, etc. xD

  17. @zeeraw I've actually seen several people complain specifically about that on this site. :p

  18. @zeeraw You can say that again. Dudes good with design, and knowing how stuff should work.

  19. @zeeraw I got a similar traffic spike when one of my sites was mentioned on EQD too. I wonder what the average CTR is for EQD links.

  20. @zeeraw Haha yeah, that must have been amazing. One day I'll run a site that people will like! One day! Till then, I'll just silently look up to folks like you and Knighty as my idols. :p

  21. @zeeraw True. I love to code but sticking with a project through to the end has always been my bane.

  22. @zeeraw You guys have an amazing dedication. :p

Thursday, 20-Sep-12 08:49:42 UTC from web in context
  23. @zeeraw If only it were that easy. XD You'd have to run the entire OS in either an interpreter, or have everything open sour-- ohwait.

  24. @zeeraw ooh nice

Thursday, 20-Sep-12 08:33:15 UTC from web in context
  25. @zeeraw Well to be fair, theirs is probably the one with the most *active* users. We only get like 50 a day (I can give you exact numbers if you'd like, I have a bot recording a few statistics about the site. xD)

Thursday, 20-Sep-12 08:32:33 UTC from web in context
  26. @zeeraw 22,000+

  27. @zeeraw @widget Yeah it only provides information for sites that it would be useful to actually embed information about it. Stuff like the homepage of sites, etc. Isn't needed (at least in it's eyes.)

Thursday, 20-Sep-12 08:25:45 UTC from web in context
  28. @zeeraw The site does that itself with OEmbed and some random provider we don't know cause we didn't make the software. :p

Thursday, 20-Sep-12 08:18:10 UTC from web in context
  29. @zeeraw We're actually making due now with scripts designed by users that automagically refresh the site, but an actual realtime timeline implementation using Meteor is on its way, lol.
