Then I took a hiatus, made a video about Skyrim and another one about a very talented pedophile, and finally a couple of days ago picked this cartoon back up. Animated the last thirteen seconds of this clip today and yesterday.

finally made it to Peter Capaldi's last season on Doctor Who and I have to put on subtitles to understand the new companion through her accent, which i personally think is absurd considering I grew up on an English cartoon

In spite of that I'm generally pretty happy with all of the scripts I have so far, especially the probable first set that'll get produced, which covers:
-Modern living and working in the increasingly diverse and yet increasingly gentrified and expensive suburbs of America
-People coming from an abusive background who then inadvertently perpetuate that cycle of abuse
-Coping with the death of someone who you didn't particularly like during their life
-The Me Too movement, and, separately, the asymmetrical way that male survivors of sexual abuse are treated even by some supporters of that movement
-Trans-exclusionary radical feminism
-The role of religion in a community
-The internal and external struggles of religious men who are also gay (I do the voice of both halves of the gay couple, so I will once again be forced to Potato Knishes myself for the sake of art)

And because I still like fun, a western, a ghost story, a zombie toon, and a Doctor Who parody involving Nazis and a musical number.

Still torn on whether to re-write this pilot to tie it more in with the COVID-19 pandemic or if I should just ignore it altogether. It's a series about three working-class individuals in 2020s America (Northern Virginia/Washington DC specifically) and I feel like it's disingenuous to write about that while completely ignoring one of the biggest challenges we as a nation have faced in the modern age, doubly so since the setting is a grocery store. On the other hand, animating everyone wearing masks and standing six feet apart? Kinda lame (not to mention impractical with a 16:9 aspect ratio). And I don't want the show tied down by the necessarily activity-restricting nature of the pandemic.

There’s like, this guy, and he gets shot in the face, and it’s pretty epic, kinda like that other cartoon I made where the guy gets shot in the face, except the camera briefly shows the exit wound in the back of his had, because I don’t make pony cartoons anymore, nah, I make action films now

The current global situation of course came at a pretty “good” time for animation. Had this happened in the 90s everyone would have been screwed, in 1993 an earthquake shut down studio production on The Lion King for a few weeks and people had to work from home and it was a huge deal.

((Technically, Pokemon's been using digital ink-and-paint since their 11th season in 2007/2008, but that's beside the point))

Animation DRAWINGS are even more numerous because even after going digital, a lot of animators still worked on paper for layout and drawing the key poses and such. The Simpsons didn't go paperless until The Simpsons Movie in 2007. Family Guy took even longer, with the 2009 special "Something, Something, Something Darkside" being the last episode to be animated on paper - they switched to ToonBoom starting with the next production season since the studio was also working on The Cleveland Show, which was paperless from the start (American Dad, also animated by the same studio, switched around the same time). Disney tried to go paperless with The Princess and the Frog in 2009, but the animators weren't comfortable with using Cintiqs and did layout drawings on paper anyway. Anime productions were still done on paper as recently as 2018 and some might still do so today - in fact, over there Pokemon actually made the *news* for going paperless.

While we're on the subject, while Disney was the first major western studio to make the permanent switch to digital ink-and-paint, the technique was actually pioneered by Hanna-Barbera as a cost-cutting measure. It was developed between 1979 and 1983 by a computer scientist who worked in a laboratory funded by Hanna-Barbera, and it was at this same laboratory that computer-aided motion tweening (which was later a staple of Flash animation) was developed. All in the name of making cheaper Scooby Doo specials.

Realized today that in a little over a month it will have been a year since my friend died. I’ve still got her last paycheck sitting in my drawer at work, nobody ever came to collect it.

Hitman 3 is fun as hell if you completely ignore the Mission Stories, but otherwise holds your hand a little too much.

Day 1 of Biden’s America: that vending machine probably still doesn’t work but I haven’t been to that school in four years so it’s anyone’s guess really.
