@maiyannah sorry, i don't understand?

latest commit of !qvitter supports #librejs again. although it will probably break really soon again, because librejs
-
how to fix #librejs "parsing error":
1. enable librejs
2. open the js file in the browser
3. copy the text

>
4. open the js file your editor
5. replace all text with the one you copied
6. try executing the code, check js console for errors

7. if you're lucky you find weird characters, caused by librejs messing up unicode. remove those and add the the unicode character again

@zine i've made !qvitter work with #librejs a couple of times already but it's so much work to find workarounds for all the bugs in librejs
-
The WORST. No, maybe not worst. But the nastiest, most insidious, thing I experience on the web must be sites that require javascript to _fully_ load. Not just "you need javascript". But "here you go, all the HTML elements you need, table layout and whatnot - but most of them are PLACEHOLDERS". Wtf?!
This happens on multiple sites where there is a long list of elements that need rendering or hotlinking. If we would do this on !GNUsocial, we'd maybe have the first 2-3 conversations in your home timeline filled out. Then grey boxes. And these boxes would require javascript to load, and for you to navigate to the next page etc. etc.
This phenomenon appears to be present on evil sites like #YouTube (some images load, the rest are left for dead) and #Facebook (you get the table structure, but only a very bad image representation of fake text in the center column).-

@mmn förlåt
-
@hannes2peer Det är okej, jag ser det som att det är du som är den svaga och jag den reaktionära, principfasta.
-
-
@takecherryakenji hard to say, not too much i guess
-
@takepapayaakenji that would be cool :)
-
cc @hannes2peer " @thrrgilag Is the source for quit.im being actively maintained anywhere?"
-
@berry hopefully i can find time and energy to look at it tomorrow
-
@takebatcaveakenji i'd say easy, if only gs->twitter. a few years ago we had two way bridge and that was more trouble
-
@sakrecoer I don't get it. We already support #OpenID (which UbuntuSSO uses) both as a provider and consumer. You can log in to !GNUsocial without a password if you use OpenID. Even create accounts if the admin allows it.
It's weird to see someone throwing randow words around, promoting "modularity", using Twitter.
cc: @hannes2peer -
@sakrecoer thanks, but i don't understand a word of that :)
-
@berry got this message. what error do you get (in the log) when trying to sub?
-
#quitter.is appears to be down and will be that until tomorrow :)
It's some issue with the VPS that I can't resolve right now, but I assume it's my fault :D- hannes2peer and takeshitakenji repeated this.
-
@tomten intressant, tack!
-
@takebatcaveakenji add it as an issue on gnu social's issue tracker, then maybe someone feels like creating that feature
-
!gnusocial it would be awesome if a developer with mess-fixing skills could separate _lists_ from _profile tags_
- mcscx repeated this.
-
in my opinoin, profile tags should be lists of users who have tagged themselves with some tag. and it should have nothing to do with lists
-
@larjona @vinzv it looks like nold gets a mention when posting with the default ui too https://quitter.se/attachment/1481166
-
@larjona @vinzv must be because nold is subscribed to this list https://quitter.se/debian/all/debian i didn't know it worked that way

@se7en is this a picture of a guy from the "creative class" building custom fixie bicycles for web designers?
-
@srschizo it posts "activity notices" (notices with other verbs than "post") as regular posts. "srschizo favorited something"
-
@srschizo not a big issue, but i thought we had a bug on .se at first
-
-
@takepapayaakenji yes it's a good idea. although not a priority for me right now.
-
@srschizo what's "gnusrss" and why is it reposting your own notices?

@srschizo et al: it might make people believe the network is only gnu social. why not call them ostatuses? or tcp/ipips?

@rhettandlink you just did it too

Latest nightly !GNUsocial will move all your thumbnails into a separate directory ('thumb', which will be automatically created inside 'file'). I think I've managed to get rid of all the bugs related to it, but I'd like some beta testing please. :)
Also, to clean out your thumbnails to allow for regeneration (freed a couple of gigabytes on quitter.is :P), run 'php scripts/clean_thumbnails.php'. Any thumbnails of attachments you have should be linked as /attachment/$id/thumbnail (with GET parameters deciding non-default sizes)- hfaust repeated this.
-
I noticed that (of course) I had issues running the upgrade script if I did it with a user different from the one running !GNUsocial. But a proper upgrade won't be running as the wrong user anyway... :)
-
@mmn maybe add that to the UPGRADE file
-
@hannes2peer That you should run the upgrade script as the same user as runs the PHP otherwise? Is that really something that has to be mentioned? :)
