@rixx I think there is a microcontroller (or sth like that) built into notebook batteries. Seems you have reset that.

I'm looking for pointers and tips on interesting approaches to internet guerilla activism. I.E. ideas in the same genre as setting up a Twitter bot to argue with alt-righters and anti-feminists.
If you got anything, just throw me a googlable term or link and I'll look into it
I am competent in web programming and able to read very technical stuff and currently researching for a 2-week teaching-tour on tools to fight online violence against women and minorities. Thx ????

@mpjgregoire That's only about 1/10th of the story. The original ostatus specification was a joint effort by Evan, Brion Vibber, Zach Copley, and James Walker.
It was originally designed essentially as a semi-centralized product to be sold, the full decentralization actually came later and we'll get to that. What's important at this point is that it wasn't a decentralized network per se at this point - it was essentially a web app service. You paid a fee and could spin up a statusnet instance on their server (or you got a free one with advertising, though the community pushed back so hard against advertising that didn't last long)
Full decentralization came much more painfully - Evan basically had a falling out with other contributors and decided to start over from scratch with pump.io - an endeavour that failed. What made it fail is that they forcefully split the network: the flagship instance (identica) was converted to a pump.io node.-
@mpjgregoire In any case, the pump.io hard network split created a hotbed of activity. pump.io essentially languished after a lot of negativity created by the identica split, but it still is actively developed. It still doesn't talk to ostatus, incidentally, all this time later.
It created something of a knowledge that there's a larger federated network out there though, and now we have software like Friendica and Hubzilla bridging a lot of the gaps. This is also what I aspire to in postActiv. The more federated protocols we speak the more of the network we bring together. -
@mpjgregoire When it comes to ActivityPub, a lot of the controversy surrounding it comes from two places: Evan's baggage with the Fediverse after the hard network split surrounding identi.ca - something I don't think he ever apologised for and a lot of people were upset by and some still are, and secondly, they made a lot of promises about things they'd include that they didn't. Technically, it's an inferior specification to ostatus, being more vague and with less security. It is the kind of specification that basically anything can say they are following and this causes no small manner of headache for those of us hacking on the Fediverse.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't think ostatus is honestly all that great, but "OStatus but with JSON instead and less strict source verification and no built in authentication standard" isn't an improvement in my opinion. -

jetzt befreude ich euch mit etwas, was wir schon eine weile nicht hatten, ein ausflug in die welt der mathedidaktik.
wie ihr ja wisst mussten wir sinnfreie übungen machen (didaktiktheorien zusammenfassen aber nie anwenden etc) und natürlich haben meine kameraden und ich uns die aufgaben aufgeteilt. so kam es, dass willi und ich exakt das gleiche abgaben, da wir aber bei unterscheidlichen kontrollören gelandet sind ist er durchgefallen und ich habe bestanden. natürlich sind wir direkt zu ihr gegangen und sie musste willi bestehen lassen. da war sie schon mega angePotato Knishest.
heute hat mitbewohner die überarbeitete übung (er hatt sie damals selbst gemacht, druchgefallen und konnte aber nacharbeiten) zurückbekommen und hat nicht bestanden. jetzt der spassfakt: in seiner nacharbeitung hat er exakt meibne übung abegegeben und natürlich sidn wir wieder zur dozentin und haben sie gefragt wie wir wissen sollen was richtig und falsch ist, wenn es nichtmal ihre kontrollöre wissen. naja sie war wieder angekiwit von uns, musste aber auch mitbewohner bestehen lassen.
aber ist es nicht absolut lächerlich? klar, wir schreiben texte in den übungsserien aber es kann ja nicht sein dass die bewertungsmassstäbe bei den verschiendene kontrollören so sehr voneinander abweichen. wie soll man so ein gefühl für die klausur bekommen, was gut und wsa schlech ist- mcscx repeated this.

Wart ihr auch so entsetzt und empört über das Obdachlosencamp-Video?Die USA haben über eine halbe Million Obdachlose. Eine halbe Million! Die offiziellen Zahlen sind so um die 550.000. Das macht bei 320 Millionen Einwohnern eine Obdachlosenquote von 0,17%.Wollt ihr mal die Zahlen für Deutschland sehen?335.000 Wohnungslose auf 82 Mio Einwohner, d.h. eine Quote von 0,40%.Ja, richtig gelesen. Der erste aktive Tag auf Mastodon neigt sich dem Ende zu. Heute haben uns echt nette Leute bei Computerproblemen geholfen.
Dafür danke! Auch wenn es mal klemmt sollte man sich nicht scheuen zu fragen. Gute Technik ist zwar manchmal holprig aber dafür frei & dezentral.
