By the way, dear people in Germany, would anyone have tips on where to find a (hopefully trans-friendly if possible) psychologist, who would not be batcavety about sexual traumas, around Hamburg, and who speaks English?

@tuxpost From the Southwest myself :-) Yeah that slang can be a challenge ;-) Although I wonder if it's more diffcult than Boarisch
-
@breton learning German is probably the key. Most Germans don't speak English well in practice, so that won't help much in DE.
-
@mcscx Huh, I heard that Germans at large are amongst best English speakers, excluding native ones of course.
-
@xrevan86 walk into a random shop in a small town in DE and talk to the people in English… they will be helpless… it just happens too rarely
-
@xrevan86 in contrast to Germany: Dutch and Scandinavians are used to watch films in English with subtitles → more practice.

My brother @pdcull has been going through his papers and we found that 1982 was the year he first started studying computing.
1982 was a good year.
I was ten. I met the Commodore PET (CBM, to be precise) and the PDP 11/10 with MUBAS (Multiuser Basic) that year.
The world of pixels and bits was magical to me, and in a way still is. The ultimate Lego set.
Its just what we've built on top of it - and especially the trillion-dollar culture of greed and psychological abuse - that makes me sad.

I think I'm going to try to do the #30daysofbiking challenge which means to ride every day in April. I already missed April 1, because it was snowing/raining all day and I had stuff to do inside, haha.
Day 2 however was sunny and we went to get some stuff at Dong Xuan Center, a big vietnamese trading center in east berlin, and after that we rode through the park Herzfelde and then we visited the socialist cemetery of Friedrichsfelde and looked at sites of interest there.
cycling distance was only 11km but we walked a lot too. and enjoyed the sun!

@mrconway but then FB will know about your special interests. They also log your IP & browser fingerprint & how often you check those news.

@lambadalambda Wonder who created all those imposter bot accounts (like yours) at the gs.kawa-kun.com instance. cc/ @lain
-
@kamiyajing I think \@lambadalambda\@gs.kawa-kun\.com is a weird bot account. The real person is @lambadalambda@...heldscal.la aka @lain

@yakkoj Interesting… I installed Solaris 7 on my Pentium I, 18yrs ago. It was suddenly free for home users.I don't remember issues like that

TIL Chrome is scanning your files, including private folders, in the background as an anti-malware measure
https://twitter.com/swagitda_/status/979477998142476289
There’s currently no “off” switch, but apparently the devs reassure that scans are local and not “cloud” based. But this still has consent and privacy implications

The decaying orbit track for Tiangong-1 is looking bad. The various sub-satellite points (the spots on the ground the station is orbiting directly overhead) keep shifting to where the last track shows an arc from Florida stretching like part of a parabola through the central US and leaving CONUS in the vicinity of Sacramento.
Anti-sat weapon's use to blow it up might precipitate Kessler Syndrome keeping us out of space & pinned to the ground. Crash in CONUS will be a drastic HAZMAT event.
