@delores maybe I should change my name to CuteDogs
-
@thor That's why I'm against "democracy" as a rallying cry. What I want to achieve ultimately is a change of opinion.
-
@thor If the majority of people want a monarch, that still isn't a free society.

Andy Wingo is just as fun to listen to as reading wingolog.org! Here's a great overview of where #guile was at a year ago:

Also he's back on the Fediverse since half a year ago, hi @wingo!

@rocx Does mastodon.social block any instances? Is there a list of them? I want to make sure I can stick with my next instance for a while.
-
@rocx I was hoping for social.coop because I feel cooperative is better than the "benevolent oligarchy" kind of thing

I am quite fond of quitter.se actually, I've been here a long time. I wish the character limit were longer.
-
The main reason I was considering social.coop was because I feel the cooperative model is better.
-
-
The social.coop application is taking longer than I expected, so I will stick with this account for a while but with a different name.

I didn't vote because of the rain but the guys I wanted were elected anyway so cool
-
@MattCropp Hi, how long do applications usually take for social.coop? I just want a rough idea, I thought it would happen immediately.

!freegaming #freegaming #zerok Open source RTS Zero-K is coming to Steam, with a campaign being worked on http://qttr.at/1zpu
-
@normandy I am planning on social.coop, but have not made an account yet. I like the governance model and they don't over-block it seems.
-
@abreakinglass@cybre.space I don't want my political stuff associated with this handle anymore, going forward.
-
@lnxw48a1 I'm still deciding the best way to go about it, it's kind of for privacy reasons. Trying not to use this handle.
-
This is a bit sudden but I'm getting a new Fediverse account and putting this one in hibernation soon.
-
Clojure type hints apparently only work on scalars and vectors. That might be useful for me --- plus record types.
-
I have been using MyPy as an example, but IMO it uses Pythonic hackery that I don't feel fits into Scheme.
-
For example, using a string to forward reference a type.

@abreakinglass Yes, I think a lot of these differences are a matter of preference rather than what is objectively "good"
-
@abreakinglass Scheme Philosophy (IMO): "Don't require anything from the language that could reasonably be an optional library."
-
@abreakinglass That's my ideal for Scheme, although it hasn't really been tangibly realized until the split of R7RS large and small.
-
-
@lnxw48a1 Here, I found some info about it from nj.com http://qttr.at/1znw as you can see nobody has taken credit
-
Perl Philosophy: "Torment the implementors on behalf of the user." Funny looking at it from Scheme.
-
@lnxw48a1 it could be a hoax to drum up support for those candidates, I can't say
-
Weird change of pace, but I'm thinking of learning Perl 6.
