@cloudchaser Ah, if you're on a Mac, you have a bit more choice anyway. iMovie is (apparently; I don't have a Mac myself) pretty good, and free, and I understand there's several very well-regarded paid ones if you find iMovie lacking.

@cloudchaser Lightworks (http://www.lwks.com/) is about the only one I know of that's free, good and relatively easy - VirtualDub is good and free, but isn't easy, and nothing else (on Windows) meets the "good" criteria without costing something (though I hear good things about Sony Vegas if you _are_ willing to spend).
