Oooh so there going to be a second joystick added to the 3DS. Very nice.

@extremedash "Very nice" isn't what I would say. I'd go with, Nintendo, why did you fail so hard with marketing the 3DS?
-
@extremedash That addon looks clunky and useless. I'm fairly mad at Capcom for getting Nintendo to come up with it.
-
@loak Haha well in all honesty I'm glad they did because I got one for 170 instead of 250.
-
@redenchilada I actually don't mind the clunkyness of it because I know in less than a year they will have a new model that has the second thumb stick built in so I'm looking at it as more of a temporary add on.
-
@extremedash You can't get away with making major changes like that to a console that quick, though. I think it's a niche device, from what I've seen.
-
@redenchilada They did it with the original DS and I'm sure they'll do it to the 3DS as well once it takes off.
-
@extremedash The DSi may have had a download service added, but the control scheme was unchanged and you could still use a plain old DS to play 99% of games that came out. Trust me, that perhiperal will go the way of the guitar grip; only used with one or two games and hated by all.
-
@redenchilada I don't hate it. I actually thought it was incredibly stupid of Nintendo to not include a 2 joystick into the design. Also it will probably be a required piece of hardware for MGS 3D and the already announced that there is a new monster hunter game that will use the new joystick as well. Also this add on is made by Nintendo not some third party company and I doubt Nintendo is not going to push for it as hard as they can.
-
@extremedash They didn't push the MotionPlus for the Wii. They didn't push (nor support!) the broadband adaptor for the GCN. They didn't push the wireless adapter for the GBA. They're not going to push this.
-
@redenchilada Exactly.
-
@redenchilada Really? Because Nintendo said and I quote "This hardware is key for this systems future." reports also suggest that they have been planning this for a long time. The system is more powerful than a gamecube yet they only port N64 games. Why is that? It's because the N64 only had one joystick. They could easily port Gamecube games but many if not most required dual analog sticks and the gyroscope cant offer what an second analog stick can. Also this gives the chance for 3rd party developers to create true console like games to draw in the hardcore gamers. Oh and there can finally be decent first person games now that there is 2 analog sticks. Also 2 of the biggest games for the console require this hardware so why wouldn't Nintendo push this?
-
@extremedash I think they don't get it if they think it's a necessity. You know why they're called console-like games? Because they wouldn't work on a handheld.
-
@extremedash Also, porting games? You're seriously wanting a console to PORT games?
